How Does A Blog Make Income?

Many people have asked how money is made with a blog, so I thought I'd address the question in a post:

Blogs make money though advertising. All the little ads that say "Powered by Google" are run by Google AdSense. They put the ads up automatically based on my content. You get paid a little bit each time someone clicks on an ad and waits long enough for it to load. Usually it's anywhere from a dollar to .50, but it adds up. I've been blogging seriously since January and my AdSense account is about to hit $40. That's pretty good for doing nothing but blogging, which I would be doing anyway. You get paid when your earnings reach $100 or more.

Another common ad program is Amazon.com. There you only get paid if someone clicks through one of your amazon links and make a purchase. It doesn't matter if they actually purchase what was on the link. Any purchase qualifies.

That's the basic two ways to make income blogging. It's not a fortune, but it adds up quick. If Penny Pinscher had a hundred readers that regularly clicked on the ads I'd be debt free in no time. That's not a hint or anything ;)

Don't Forget Your Blue Card!

If you shop regularly at Goodwill, don't forget to pick up a "blue card" as you check out. For every $10 you spend you get a stamp. When your card is filled up you redeem it for $20 worth of free merchandise. The card never expires and is great to save for back to school shopping.

They also used to give coupons out when you donated, but I haven't seen those in a while. I'll ask next time I go and report back whatever I find out. In the meantime - enjoy your blue card!

2. CVS will instantly send you an email link to connect to and credit you with 50 free photos.

3. Under "Order Prints" section (you may have to upload a photo to get to this page), click on the "Do More with Your Photos" on the right side of the screen. Another 10 prints will be credited to your account.

4. Once you are signed up, order a few of your free prints and include the code 15FREE for an additional 15 free prints. This code works every time you order, so if you go and order a 1 photo, you can enter it to get another 15 free.

Note: You should be able to pick these up at your local CVS store, if you have one, so that you don't have to pay shipping. Let us know if you have any trouble getting this deal to work. I have a lot of pictures I've been wanting print, so this will work wonderfully!

CVS has a 100% guarantee on the quality of the photos they process for you, so if you are not happy with them for any reason, you can get them redone. I've heard that most of the time, the quality is very good.

I ordered enough photos to fill 3 brag books for grandparents this Mother's Day/Father's Day! What a neat way to give a great gift without breaking the bank (which doesn't take much anymore...;)

Mardi Gras at Uptown Station!

Mardi Gras For Kids at Uptown Station

‘Let the good times roll’ on Sunday, February 10th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Uptown Station is hosting a Mardi Gras party with Kids in mind, in the amazing Central Park.

The whole family can celebrate the day with face painting, temporary tattoo artists and New Orleans-style jazz music. Uptown Station stores and tenants will be decorating their cars and floats for a mini parade that will begin at 3:00pm. Beads and other goodies for kids will be tossed from the parade floats. Come dressed up with your kids and enter the costume competition – or just have fun in costumes and masks in purple, green, and yellow.

Join the Uptown crew and ride the Uptown Express train ($1 charity donation per ride) and join in the carnivale. Play on our incredible kids playground all afternoon.
All the fun of Mardi Gras New Orleans-style, but with children in mind.
Proceeds for all children’s activities will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Thanks Mrs. B! ;)

Bread Loaves for .18 Each!

For anyone who doesn't frequent the Blue Bunny bread thrift store on Freedom Way you are missing some great deals. They have large bags of bread for $2.75 each. I asked what was 'wrong' with the bread in the large bags and was told that they just don't have room for it all so some gets offered 'bulk'.

I have bought bread like that plenty of times and have never had a problem. I freeze it as soon as I buy it and pull out about one loaf a day (we use a lot of bread). The brands are mixed, but there are a lot of good quality ones like Nature's Own. I've also gotten Cobblestone Mills hoagie and kaiser rolls this way. I did a more detailed post on my other blog here.

Valentine Deals & Double Coupons

Dollar General on Eglin Pkwy. has Valentine's cards and other items.

Food World now doubles coupons every weekday. I have yet to be able to check that out. Has anyone had any experiences with this?

Thanks Kris!
